Background

In our discovery phase, we heard that there can be a lack of understanding of what ‘digital' means, that not all senior leaders understand how to implement digital transformation and that many public sector staff are keen to get involved in designing better public services, but need the right training and support.

To deliver and modernise public services in Wales, we need public service leaders with sufficient depth of knowledge to lead digital transformation. We also need a workforce with the right knowledge, skills and confidence in digital ways of working.

Starting small

Building digital skills and capability across the whole of the public sector in Wales is a huge task and something we won’t be able to tackle in one go. We’ve already tested a leadership overview session that we’ve delivered to over 500 leaders in Wales and we’re now working with a number of organisations to identify the right training and support needed at all levels.

Can you help us?

Following some pre-market engagement to help shape our specification and requirement, we are now at the stage of procuring specialist digital training and support to help Wales meet its digital vision to improve the lives of everyone through collaboration, innovation and better public services.

If you are a training provider specialising in digital skills and capability, we would love to see you at our up-and-coming webinar on Wednesday 23 June 11am to 12pm where we’ll be providing an overview of the background to this work and more information on the specific training and support needs, we’ve identified. We’ll also talk through the details of the tendering process we are about to start in order to find the right training provider and answer any questions prospective suppliers may have.

This session is open to all suppliers and we’re particularly keen to engage with companies based in Wales who provide these services.
