Joanna Goodwin to lead user centred design at CDPS

Jo has led digital teams at the Office for National Statistics and the Welsh Local Government Association

22 July 2022

We’re delighted to welcome Joanna Goodwin to CDPS as Head of User Centred Design.

Joanna Goodwin will take up the role of Head of User Centred Design in September

Jo has worked in digital across central and local government for over a decade, most recently leading the digital team at the Welsh Local Government Association. Jo has been on the panel of the Centre for Digital Public Services since its inception and is excited to join the team to support its work across Wales.

Jo has also recently worked with Content Design London on a range of global content design projects.

Jo wrote the first social media accessibility guidelines for government. She led on the research and development of practice adopted by the Government Digital Service and now the Government Communication Service.

While at the Office for National Statistics (ONS), among other roles, Jo was Head of Digital Practice. She says her favourite memories of ONS were working with communities of practice and creating the user centred design community.

Jo is excited about the opportunity of working with CDPS and the wider public sector to make our products and services more user focused. She believes in iterative design and that small things can have a big impact. She will be bringing this approach to implementing user-centred design practices and principles in the Welsh public sector.

Jo will take up the role in mid-September.
