This course is suitable for individuals or groups:

  • delivering devolved public services in Wales 
  • with little or no cyber security or technical knowledge 

As part of our commitment to the delivery of the Cyber Action Plan for Wales, we have partnered with the Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales to offer Cyber Security Awareness Training. 

Outcomes 

By the end of the course, you will: 

  • understand their digital environment 
  • have the confidence to challenge something that does not look right 
  • receive a certificate of attendance 

Course outline 

The training is delivered in small, succinct modules using real world examples. 

  • Introduction to cyber resilience 
  • Why it's important 
  • Different types of security vulnerabilities (technical and non-technical) 
  • Social engineering 
  • Strong passwords and their importance 
  • Ishings (spear phishing, vishing, email phishing and smishing) 
  • Social media and what you put out there 
  • Keeping devices up to date 
  • Ransomware 
  • Local grown attacks and their impact 

The course is delivered in English but presentation slides can be in Welsh. 

The slides are used to guide discussion. They won’t be available after the session. 

The session will not be recorded. This is for security reasons. It also encourages people to participate fully in the sessions. 

About the Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales 

These sessions are delivered by the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group’s Cyber PATH. Cyber PATH is an elite talent pipeline for the next generation of specialists in cyber resilience. 

The trainers are highly knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. They pride themselves on providing the right environment for your people to feel comfortable and to ask questions. 

Cyber PATH carefully selects students studying at local universities to work in collaboration with experienced private sector security professionals to deliver a carefully crafted catalogue of cyber resilience services. 

The aim is to support you to become more cyber resilient while providing the Cyber PATH team of students with an opportunity not only to help you, but also to augment their own skills and knowledge through paid workplace experience led by an experienced senior to ensure the service to you is of the highest quality.
