Open communication has been a key principle for us from day one. To really deliver better public services, organisations need to communicate effectively both internally and externally.

When we launched our draft Digital Service Standards back in October we were looking for input to create a set of standards that will improve public services for the people of Wales.

Open communication was a focus for us from day one. We wanted to share ideas, progress, learning and conversations. One of the first activities for the Centre was to create a set of Digital Service Standards.

From June 2020 to March 2021, CDPS tested findings from discovery and kicked off delivery on a number of Welsh public services.

As we move into the beta stage, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on our journey so far and we’ve all learnt some important lessons on the digital approach.

Following the findings of our discovery phase we’ve now moved into the alpha phase of our Adult Social Care Digital Transformation Project and created a prototype status update text and website.

In this post, developer Matthew Pugh tells us a bit about the approach to testing and iterating through prototyping.

Back in August, we set out to identify a shared challenge impacting the front door of Adult Social Care across Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen and Neath Port Talbot, exploring how we could use user-centred design and digital enablers to support services. 

In her draft budget for 2021-22, Rebecca Evans announced that CDPS has been allocated funding of £4.9m for the next financial year. This is brilliant news for digital public services in Wales.  

One of our priorities at the Centre is to help organisations and their leaders develop greater understanding and confidence around digital.
