Sally Meecham has been appointed interim CEO for the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS)

Over the last 9 months many of us working in public service delivery in Wales have seen a significant shift in how and where we work, and how we deliver services.

In this post, the three project sponsors tell us a bit about why they got involved, what it’s been like it, what they’re learning and what they’re hoping to achieve.

Back in September, we shared our first draft of the Digital Service Standards for Wales. We wanted to hear what you thought of them. What worked, what was missing and what was needed to make them the backbone of all public sector service delivery in Wales.

When I was appointed Chair of CDPS I knew I wanted an advisory panel to support me through the initial formation of the Centre. It was important that the panel had a wide range of experience and backgrounds and would be prepared to challenge both me and the progress and direction of the Centre.

An eleven-person advisory panel has been put in place to help steer the direction of the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS).

How do you balance user needs with organisational needs, strategy and constraints? How do you collaborate successfully across local authorities? How do you start to embed digital transformation?

We’re the three project managers from @NPTCouncil, @BlaenauGwentCBC and @torfaencouncil working with the first Centre for Digital Public Services digital transformation squad.

The first project to kick off has been our squad looking at digital transformation. One of the challenges for the public sector in Wales is finding the expertise and skills in designing services with users needs at the heart.
