Our ‘Meet digital standards’ team are responsible for developing the Digital Service Standards for Wales, as well as supporting service teams across Wales in engaging with the standards.
The Digital Service Standards for Wales set out what’s expected from new or redesigned digital services funded by Welsh public sector organisations and help ensure that services are designed and delivered in a consistent, secure, and simple way, meeting the needs of the service users.
In late 2022 and early 2023, the team ran a series of roadshows across Wales. The aim of the roadshows was to raise awareness of the Digital Service Standards for Wales, find out how well they are understood across Wales and understand what support is needed to begin embedding these standards.
Based on the feedback received at the roadshows, and insights gained from analysing the current engagement with the published standards, the ‘Meet digital standards’ team have identified several opportunities to improve the way in which we support our users.
Our analysis of the engagement with the published standards supports the comments from the roadshow attendees, which included that they and their teams need more guidance and support in meeting each standard, and based on this feedback we are exploring how we might do this.
Some examples of the feedback we received include:
We are currently in the middle of a discovery phase, which will help us fully understand the problem area, so that we can provide the best solution. An important part of this discovery phase is conducting user research, which will allow us to understand the user needs and make sure that we provide a solution that solved the challenges faced by the users.
