This is the first in a new series of data science webinars facilitated by Welsh Government, CDPS and Data Cymru, for those in the Welsh public sector. 

The Welsh Government Data Science Unit was set up in 2020 and has been supporting the organisation transform and modernise over the last few years.  

In this session, Steven Hopkins, Lead Data Scientist, will give an overview of how the Data Science Unit have:  

  • embedded data science in Welsh Government 
  • introduced new tools and infrastructure  
  • helped transform how data is used by data scientists and other analysts

Steven will also discuss the challenges that were faced and how the team have tackled them.  

Lastly, there will be an overview of the data science projects that will be covered in more depth across upcoming sessions of the webinar series.
