'What does good look like?' with Jason Evans, Open Data Manager, The National Library of Wales.

This session will focus on what good data looks like in the cultural heritage sector and explore the process and technical aspects of aligning data across multiple institutions, overcoming closed data silos to enrich user experience.

Using Wikidata (linked open data) to connect common data elements such as people and places has helped create rich bilingual data which can be freely reused by all.

Whilst this case study focuses on the work of the National Library of Wales, it also highlights the benefit of adopting open common data standards to streamline services and improve discoverability within datasets. This work has resulted in new collaborations and multiple examples of data being reused and repurposed to create new apps and services.
