Communities of Practice
“Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a concern or passion for something that they do – and they learn how to do it better as they interact regularly” (Etienne Wenger, 2005.)”
Through communities we’ll provide safe spaces for discussion which allow people from different disciplines and organisations to come together and share information, ideas and experience. Sharing experiences and learning can support a growth mindset and building sustainable communities of practice will help grow capability and deliver digital change in Wales.
These communities can be created around roles, an area of interest or a particular way of working. Communities can help members create the space within their day-to-day jobs to get better at what they do, together.
We want these communities to generate discussion and create a sense of excitement about delivering better public services. These communities will help grow capability and deliver digital change in Wales.
We’re looking at what communities already exist and whether building new communities could support better service delivery.
Are you part of a community of practice involved in delivery of public services in Wales? Would you like to get involved in one of our communities or talk to us about starting a new one? Please get in touch
Building Bilingual Services – What are the barriers facing us when developing bilingual services? What good practice can be shared? And how can we ensure that Welsh gets treated equally throughout the process? These are some of the themes covered by this community of practice. The community now meets on a regular basis. If you would like to be involved then please get in touch.
Digital Service Standards – we’re about to launch a community around the new digital service standards for Wales. How do we build services that meet the standards? What are the barriers? How do we know what good looks like? How do we measure our success? If you would like to get involved in this new community then please get in touch.
