How we work

We work in partnership with an organisation or a group of organisations working on the same thing.

Lasting change comes from working together. We want to build the confidence of our partners to do things differently.

We have a permanent skilled team with experience in delivery, service design, product, user research, content design and interaction design and a team of communication experts who can help you talk about what you’re doing and what you’re learning.

We discuss all incoming requests at our leadership team meetings and if we can help, we will work with you to discuss outcomes, timescales, budget, and expectations. Senior buy-in will be needed from your organisation and we’ll draft a partnership agreement with you which clearly outlines who is doing what.

If we can’t support you with your specific request, we may be able to help in other ways such as offering an alternative perspective, offering to mentor you or your team, or providing support through our training programme or communities of practice.

Why work with us?

As an organisation funded by Welsh Government (with a mandate to support organisations to deliver better public services), we too are part of the public sector. We have a shared understanding of the pressures you are facing.

We seek to work with organisations that share our ambition to do things differently, to achieve lasting change.

We encourage our partners to:

  • put user needs first so that we design services that meet the needs of the people who use them, as well as meeting organisational goals
  • communicate regularly what they are doing, so that learning is shared wider than the project and is useful to others

Working in partnership with CDPS, in addition to a broad range of expert support, advice, and encouragement, you will get:

Increased digital capacity

We have experienced digital people dedicated to improving digital public services in Wales, ready to work with you and to provide tailored support to your organisation.

Capability and confidence building

We will help you to build your own digital capability if required and give you the confidence to apply modern methods, tools and techniques.

"The long-term impact of what we did with CDPS has been to create something which is self-sustaining, and has given us the confidence to try things out for ourselves and do things that we hadn’t done in quite the same way before."
Dyfed Alsop, Chief Executive, Welsh Revenue Authority

Support to put people first

People – service users, staff and leaders – are our focus.

Our user-centered design approach means a better experience for users and staff, and better value for public money by getting things right first time.
