Transcript of video
One of the 6 recommendations from System Reboot, was to “Develop and introduce digital service standards”.
In the report they mention that “The real difference in the adoption of digital across public services in Wales has to be an uncompromising focus on the needs of service users. The commitment to user centered design and the adoption of a set of service standards is essential”.
In this video, we’ll cover:
- The purpose of the service standards
- What they are
- How they help you
The Digital Service Standards “set out what’s expected from new or redesigned digital services funded by Welsh public sector organisations”.
There are 12 standards, arranged into 3 categories:
- Meet user needs
- Create digital teams
- Use the right technology
The Standards ensure services are safe, secure, accessible and bilingual. They're also there to support you:
- It focuses you on building on what users need. This prevents you building the wrong thing that can cost time and money to fix.
- It ensures more people can use your service.
- It’s easier for you. The standards encourage sharing and re-use. The solution to most common problems will likely already exist. This means you are not always starting from scratch.
In the course materials, you’ll find a link to our website. There we explain:
- what each standard means
- why it's important
- how you can get started
