The Digital Service Standard is tried and tested, developed from best practice from around the world.  It provides a framework to design and deliver efficient, user-centred public services. The Standard is broken down into 12 principles – one of which is ‘make sure everyone can use the service’.

According to the 2021 Census, 670,000 individuals in Wales identified as disabled, representing 21.1% of the Welsh population.

This is 1 in 5 of the population without taking people with temporary disabilities into account. A temporary disability limits a person's ability to perform daily activities for a short period but is expected to improve with time and treatment such as temporary vision impairment (recovering from eye surgery or an infection), pregnancy-related conditions (like bed rest due to complications or postnatal recovery) or broken bones (that limit mobility or the ability to perform tasks).
